The city life will melt away as you drive along Buffalo Creek right outside Lexington. The drive is scenic and winding past farm houses, woods and gorgeous views of the river and falls. This is a place tucked up in the mountains of Lexington but you are still about 30 minutes from many major attractions. The property is heavily wooded so it feels like your own oasis. If you want to be a 5 minute walk from restaurants and coffee shops - this is not for you. If you want to spend an hour watching deer, listening to birds, seeing stars at night and don’t mind driving 20 minutes to restaurants through gorgeous mountain roads, or get a local perspective on places to eat or hike - then we welcome you! There is plenty of time to have an adventure here in the mountains! Stay warm by the electric fireplace, fire pit outside or the hot tub! See the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park this Fall! Or just relax with the nature around the home - both can be done in a day! Fall and winter are coming so why not let the dog run around the woods, try a new hiking trail, or even sleep on the front porch while you read a book. The weather is great in the mountains to be outside in the sun without the heat! When was the last time you had a chance to unplug from your busy “city life” and step back to a simpler time? When was the last time you felt like you relaxed and truly connected with another person? We fully understand the hustle and bustle of regular life. There’s so much coming at you that what you really need is time away. Time to recharge, visit nature, reconnect with the person you are before all the stress of modern life wore your down. We only get one shot at this life, so why not treat yourself to some much needed down time to relax and reconnect. Even if you need to reconnect with yourself, just sit and watch the wildlife, the stars, read a book from cover to cover. That is one of our favorite past times! Family cornhole tournaments provide a ton of laughs! Do a workcation and stay a bit longer! The home does have a desk and chair - along with DSL that is sufficient to do Zoom calls. Work might be be easier if you get to do it from the front porch in the woods. Other Details to Note
There is a RING camera system that monitors the exterior of the home on the property, facing the back yard and the front parking area and front of the home. This system does record continuously and will record audio in close proximity to the floodlights. There is NOT municipal trash service on the property or out in this area. There is a collection area just down the hill on the way out of the property. Please take trash down to that collection area. A map is in the property to show you where this is on the side of the fridge. Please do not leave trash outside the home as this can attract bears. Also other animals like raccoons and possums will get into trash bags. Do not leave trash outside of the home. We want to keep our wild spaces wild, and any bears that learn to live off interaction with people are killed. We ask that you are a responsible steward of our rural community which allows a natural ecosystem of deer, chipmunks, squirrels, birds, and larger animals like bears to exist in the area. The unfinished basement has the washer and dryer for the home. There is a cornhole set for guest use as well, in addition to wire kennels and dog beds for the four legged family members. There are personal belongings of the owner kept down in the basement as well as an owner’s fridge. Please do not disturb owners belongings in basement. We ask that guests do not burn personal belongings in the home - this is our personal home. If you want to use the fire pit we do provide fire wood, but it is natural, untreated wood. We recommend picking up treated kindling or Duraflame type logs on your way to the house to help get a fire started in the fire pit if you are not familiar with starting fires using natural untreated wood. This home is dog friendly and we ask that you keep dogs off the furniture - both inside and outside the home. We would like to keep this home available to families that travel with their four legged family members - so we ask that dogs are kenneled when not directly supervised and that you clean up after your dog before you leave including the grass around around the home. We do not allow cats or birds in the home. We do not allow any motorized vehicles off the gravel driveway and parking area. This includes ATV, four wheelers, dirt bikes or motorcycles. In addition, do not shoot fireworks or firearms on the property. We have a quiet wonderful community and we want to be good stewards of nature around us. Come relax and unwind!

Accessibility
Neighborhood
We aren't in a neighborhood which is what makes this place so special! You can't see a house from the house! You have 8 acres to yourself. The neighboring properties do have dogs you can sometimes hear bark, but other than birds chirping or a hawk squawking, you won't hear anything. You are out in nature, so you will often see deer crossing the property, hummingbirds during certain times of year, opossum, racoon, occasionally snakes and bugs out on the trails on the property. Please keep your trash inside the home as we have seen bears in the area. You are out in the rural countryside where Nature lives, so be prepared and act accordingly.
Guest Access
You will be given a code for SmartLock on the exterior doors to the home in your check in instructions that will be valid for the duration of your stay and specific to you for safety.
